From Kotonoha Wolfsmund is a dark historical manga set in the early 14th century of Europe (Switzerland). The story revolves around the eponymous fortress in the St. Gotthard Pass which is ruled by a sadistic tyrant. Basically, each chapter deals with characters who for some reason have to cross the pass and who end up getting interrogated by the mentioned tyrant. What sets this manga apart is the fact that there's rarely a happy ending for our protagonists. The author pulls no punches to show us just how brutal and inhuman the Middle Ages really were.

Amatsuyu "Jouro" Kisaragi is a totally normal second-year secondary school understudy who has two dates more than one end of the week—with the understudy gathering president Sakura "Universe" Akino on Saturday, at that point with his beloved companion Aoi "Himawari" Hinata on Sunday. Unfortunately for Jouro, the two young ladies announce their adoration for his closest companion Taiyou "Sun-chan" Ooga, the expert of the baseball crew. Tolerating every one of their solicitations for counsel and direction, he is presently answerable for helping the two young ladies win the core of a similar person. Unbeknownst to his companions, Jouro's amicable and inhumane picture is everything except a stratagem intended to give himself a role as the confused hero of a course book rom-com. A conniver under his chipper veneer, he causes the best of this unforeseen new development with another arrangement: to get Sun-chan to succumb to either Cosmos or Himawari and take the different as his own prize. Be that as it may, Jouro's final desperate attempt is undermined by the bleak, four-looked at Sumireko "Pansy" Sanshokuin, who shocks Jouro with her insight into his mystery character as well as an admission to the genuine self he stowed away for this time. Stuck in this cleverly muddled circumstance, every one of the five understudies must explore innumerable untruths, traps, and errors to end up as the winner.
